I looked through the forum but couldn't find this discussed anywhere. How do we deal with magazines that include covermount books (or other content that may be bundled together)? I would assume they get submitted together, right?

For example, I submitted this magazine which includes a free minibook.

However, I noticed that a similar book has been submitted separately.

I submitted a number of these. You are right that they were bundled together, I added them as they are book length and not pamphlet length. These books are also often lost or sold separately on eBay, if there's a way of tying them to the master release that is probably the way to go, unfortunately I don't think I have the magazines anymore.

I have a box full of these GamesMaster "Greatest Tips" and "Most Wanted Tips" books that I have not yet added for that reason.

Adding them together with the magazine also causes confusion with credits since there's currently no way to split them between each item.

The generic guidelines also exist:

"List any objects that were initially sold as a package (by the company) as one object, no matter what the packaging. Packaged objects that are also made available individually are treated as separate objects. Objects where we are uncertain if they were sold as a package can be entered as separate objects. Objects that are obtained after the sale via a coupon or other method should be entered as individual objects. (1.1.4.)"

I'm kinda torn about that because so many publications are resold separately.

They can be still submitted:

These free books are often part of their own numbered series, so should they get their own "Periodical Title" credit (or is Series the right credit here)?

I'd go with Series.
